Today Is The First Day Of The Rest Of My Life...

If you're reading this... YOU'VE FOUND ME! *comes out of hiding spot and waves*
Hello there, citizens of the world! How do you do? Pleasure to meet you!
Oh, you want to find out more about me? All in good time, my boy, all in good time.
Firstly, my name's Laura. If you didn't know that, you do now.

THIS IS ME.#notamodel

So, recently, I turned 18. The big 1-8. You can do a lot of things when you turn 18 in the UK- you can buy alcohol, vote, get a tattoo, marry, make a will, buy a house, carry an organ donor card, do jury service... AND YOU CAN WATCH ANY FILM YOU WANT TO. As well as being able to perform professionally abroad. Sounds fun- First Choice kids rep in Gran Canaria, here I come!

But seriously, 18 is an important milestone. It's that moment when you realise you're not a child anymore, and that you're an adult. You can be sued, so you have to watch your mouth. Yes, I do feel different now I've turned 18, but in a good way. I can still act like a big kid at times, but there are rules to be followed.

So what did I end up doing? Well, I've been wanting to do a photo-shoot for ages, and I got the opportunity to do it! I invited four of my friends to come and join me, but unfortunately only three could come (sad times) but it was still LOADS of fun! You've probably worked out from the last bit of text that I have FOUR best friends- I have Amy, who I've known for seven years and has a heart of gold, Rebecca, who I've known for two years and always knows how to make me smile, Emily, who I've also known for two years and has the cutest personality EVER, and Julia, who I've known four years and whom I affectionately call my 'partner in crime'. We never break the law though. First rule of being partners in crime.

The photo-shoot was a MASSIVE success! It was great to celebrate such a milestone with my girlies, and also have the photos to look back on and think 'yeah, that was so much fun!' Although Julia couldn't make it, I have a trick or two up my sleeve to make sure that she feels like part of my celebrations. Watch this space.

So, let's delve a little further into the rabbit hole that is my brain...

I am a HUGE fan of Joe McElderry. You might have heard of him (SHOCK HORROR). He was the winner of the UK version of The X Factor in 2009, winner of Popstar to Operastar in 2011, and winner of The Jump in 2013. He's a Geordie lad with a voice of an angel. He's currently on his 'Set Your Soul Alive' Tour, going all across the country to perform. I've been lucky to go on three dates- Skegness in March, Scunthorpe in May, and Retford later in May- as well as meet him afterwards. You have to be prepared to wait a while if you wanna meet him, but it's DEFINITELY worth it! He's an all-round nice guy, down to earth, not a bad bone in his body. He's more than happy to sign autographs, pose for pictures, hug his fans and just chat in general. Below is a picture of Joe and myself after a gig (as well as a teddy bear that I got from the tour's merch stand which he signed the hoody of for me):

I also love David Tennant- you know, the one who made Doctor Who just a little bit hotter? ;)
He's such an amazing actor, and not just Doctor Who (but don't get me wrong, I am a MASSIVE Whovian! I mean, come on, my 18th birthday cake was a TARDIS!) I saw him in Broadchurch, and I absolutely loved it, as well as The Escape Artist, which made me cry numerous times. If you haven't seen either of these shows, I suggest you watch them. NOW. This instant. You won't regret it!

I'm currently at college doing final exams for Performing Arts, Sociology and History, but I'm staying on for a third year to better my social skills and confidence. Julia's going to come and join me for this shindig (as it will be her first year in college- fun times!), so I'm excited about that, and I'll be doing Drama and German, as well as a bunch of other things that aren't so academic. I'm aspiring to be an actress or a singer/songwriter, or a combination of all three. No matter what happens, I want to perform, be it on TV or on the stage. I would love to become a role model and inspire other young people in a positive way.

As for interests, they're very broad. Of course I love my music, but my taste has a great range- from ABBA to Avicii, The Osmonds to One Direction, Tchaikovsky to Taylor Swift. I like a lot of different music artists and styles- pop, J-pop, K-pop, classical, jazz, alternative, R&B and of course songs from MUSICALS! I love musicals, I always have and always will- my particular favourites being Wicked, The Drowsy Chaperone, Les Misérables, Hairspray and Spring Awakening. But I love a good show-tune.

Well, that's all I have to say for now, folks. If you have time, please do check out my other social networks:
